Sir Alex Ferguson believes the last 16 tie with Real Madrid is now a 50-50 game. Quotes from the BBC website:
A great spectacle at the Bernabeu ended in a stalemate however Robin van Persie had a clear-cut chance to put Manchester United ahead. He broke the offside trap to sneak in behind Xabi Alonso but he did not connect fully and Alonso recovered to clear off of the line.
Van Persie had earlier had his shot deflected onto the bar as well as a last minute save from the Real Madrid keeper too as all of his attempts troubled the hosts.
United will be disappointed after having the better clear-chances but were also thankful to, the much maligned, David De Gea. The Madrid native was in inspired form as he made eight saves throughout the game.
Ronaldo was the star for Madrid with an excellent headed goal and his constant threat towards the Manchester United goal. His trademark free-kick left David de Gea stranded and luckily for United the ball landed on the top of the net and not in it! Sir Alex was in awe of the former United star after the game:
The return leg is sure to be an excellent spectacle and you could be there thanks to bwin‘s ticket competition.
