Sunderland 0 – 1 Aston Villa
Martin O’Neill was haunted by the return of his former club, as a lacklustre Sunderland side came up against an Aston Villa team who seem to be settling under Paul Lambert’s methods.
Villa deserved their win, with improved performances from Barry Bannan and Ashley Westwood in midfield, whilst Gabby Agbonlahor and Christian Benteke have formed a good partnership since the demise of Darren Bent.
We’d have to single out Barry Bannan for his individual crossing display. A staggering 88% of his crosses were accurate (7/8) this is unheard of in crossing terms. He also created three chances for his side.
