How Does Your Team Compare To Last Season Part 2 | Opta Stats Comparison

Sunderland

Sunderland comparison How Does Your Team Compare To Last Season Part 2 | Opta Stats Comparison

Sunderland have conceded 0.28 fewer goals per game this season but kept one less clean sheet. They have improved their crossing accuracy by 2% and their passing accuracy by 1.77%. However, it has taken them 1.25 minutes longer to create a chance.

They have scored one less goal this season but it has taken them 2 minutes less to score a goal. They have also converted 3% more of their chances this season but had 81 fewer shots and 21 fewer shots on target.

Sunderland have also created 1 less clear-cut chance this season and converted 13% less of the clear-cut chances that were created. They have also made 4% fewer passes in the attacking half of the pitch but made 4% more in the final third of the pitch.

Therefore, if Sunderland want to improve next season they need to make sure that they convert the clear-cut chances that they create, as this has been the weakest part of their game this season. So, if they can go out and find a goalscorer in the summer then I can see Sunderland being higher up the table next season.

Stoke City

Stoke Comparison How Does Your Team Compare To Last Season Part 2 | Opta Stats Comparison

Stoke have kept the same amount of clean sheets as last season but have conceded 0.12 more goals per game which is not much of a difference really. They have improved their passing accuracy by 5.61% this season and 24% of their crosses have found a teammate, which is the same as last season.

It has taken Stoke and extra 2.24 minutes this season to create a chance and an extra 26 minutes to score a goal. They have scored 12 fewer goals this season and converted 1% less of their chances.

Stoke have had 277 shots this season with only 87 of them being on target. This is 83 fewer shots than last season and 55 fewer shots on target. They have also created 10 fewer clear-cut chances this season and converted 9% fewer of the clear-cut chances they have created. It has also taken them an extra 28 minutes to create a clear-cut chance this season.

They have also made 1% fewer passes in the attacking half of the pitch and 10% more passes in the attacking half of the pitch.

So, if Stoke want to improve on their league position next season they also need to focus on converting their clear-cut chances, as they have converted 9% fewer than last season. They also need to focus on getting their shots on target as 87 shots on target in one season is a lot less than any of the teams above them in the league.
